Who we are

Sound Start Project was founded on a simple but bold belief: music and the arts should be accessible to everyone, not just those who can afford them. We provide completely free music lessons, instruments, performance opportunities, and community connections, primarily for children and youth, but open to all who are eager to learn.

OUR VISION

We envision a world where every child, regardless of income or background, has access to the tools, mentorship, and inspiration they need to thrive creatively. Music is more than a hobby. It’s a discipline that teaches patience, perseverance, confidence, and communication. It’s a language that bridges divides and builds lasting friendships. It’s a force that connects people to purpose and to each other.

But for many, it’s a lifeline.

In an age of distraction, disconnection, and growing pressure on kids and families, the arts offer something profoundly grounding. They foster focus, emotional intelligence, and self-expression. They give students a safe place to fail, try again, and succeed. They teach them to listen, to collaborate, and to lead. They open a door to joy, identity, and lifelong curiosity.
